History

In 2012 Adam Heard had an idea to start a cleaning business, as he'd worked in a care home cleaning since 2010 and wanted a better wage, but this did not officially happen until 2015 as not only did he had to save up to buy equipment, uniform, open a business account, learn to drive, buy a car, buy business cards, flyers and of course make a website, it wasn't until 1st June 2015 that Cruelty Free Cleaning officially started.

When Adam was in the care home cleaning, he was asked by a freindly relative of a resident if he would clean ovens, he said yes and then started cleaning ovens on the side, after a while he built up a reputation and now it's a main service that Cruelty Free Cleaning offers.

In August 2017 Adam left the care home to concentrate on the business.

In 2019, Cruelty Free Cleaning started Carpet cleaning as a service, as Adam had done it previously at the care home, so in Febuary that year he ordered a Numatic George carpet cleaner direct from Numatic, as TSB had sent him a Cheque for £250 in compensation, as they sent his details to another customer.

As well as cruelty free products that are certified by cruelty free international (A campaign group to end animal testing.) he then started to think about the enviernment and looked at buying Ecological cleaning products that were cruelty free aswell, such products like Ecoleaf, (Made by Suma a co-operative business) who makes multi-surface cleaner and toilet cleaner which are used in the business.

On the 1st June 2020, Cruelty free cleaning celebrated 5 years of business.

One of Adam's plans was to buy an electric van to use for the business, he had looked in to this and he found that most electric vans can be expensive, so he thought maybe the business can buy one in the future, then in November 2022 he seen a small little van called a Aixam Mega Van 600E, (Which was basicly a glorified milk float!) he was very impressed with the colour of the van, (the co-founder Laura liked the look of it too!) then in December 2022 the business bought the van for £6000! Adam and Laura paid for the van out of their savings, but the business is in the process of paying the debt back.

On the 1st April 2023, price changes for general cleaning came into effect for all new customers, this was priced at £15 per hour, £1 more than current customers, this was to help the busienss financially as it was hit by the cost of living, although all customers didn't have to pay any increased charges when January 2024 came, making all customers pay the same rate in 2024.

On 1st January 2024, The price for General cleaning went up to £15 per hour.

The Future!
Although not every single product used or supplied in the business is ecological (However most are), we are making plans to become Carbon Neutral in years to come and we're always researching into better ways to reduce the carbon footprint for the company. We are also planning on including the Vegan certification sometime in the future, this will enable us to guarantee not only 100% Cruelty Free Products But 100% Vegan products as well.
